Friday Frosts

Closest Of The Close

Because they are friends,
I can take some space.
Because they are relations
I can walk away
And be myself for a while;
Buy you, closest of the close
Feel betrayed, take offence
Because I can not share
My need for some solitude.

Yet sometimes I need to be alone,
To realise and consolidate
All I have, have learnt and known;
To appreciate and mind
And remind myself of what it is to love
To find myself again and again
Beyond all doubt loved.

Closest of the close,
For all the world
I would not willingly hurt you,
Cause you pain
So say that you still love me
So I may return again.

Shiny Sunday

Catching Hold

Yes – love, love
For though we know it pains
Not to denies us the very best of all life’s richest gains.

Yes – hope, hope
For not to sullies days
Which otherwise would profit us in much more fruitful ways.

Yes – give, give
For not to kills us all
Taking can not cure us, nor prevent a fall.

Yes – trust, trust
For not to stifles hope
Making it impossible to give, to love, to cope.

Sensual Sunday - St Valentines Day Special

 Fairytale Unending

It seems my hair obstinately
Refuses to grow any longer,
And the tower
Remains as tall as ever.
Through thorn filled dreams
I notice his charger has gone lame,
His armour tarnished by rain.
And I wonder if my prince
Will ever get through
His final year at finishing school.
His riddle solving abilities are nil.
Unsurprising given the distractions
Of my big footed sisters
In their make-up and gowns.
Though frankly I’m disappointed
That he has fallen for something so obvious.
In truth I am losing all patience
And have half a mind to doze off for a while,
And put my dreams in their proper place.
I mean surely he must be well on his way by now.
Well perhaps I’ll wait a little longer.
And keep myself busy with some spinning.

Damsel Places 'Want' Ad

Fair damsel needs assistance
Turning frogs into princes
For ladies in waiting.
Patience essential when contemplating.
Defender against toads
To travel long roads;
Though gallantry desired
No armour is required.
Apply within thorn encrusted walls
(Must be able to catch her when she falls)
Blaggards will be deemed failed quirks of evolution
Rationed communication preferred to elocution.

(no point others getting blamed for it when they're not guilty, is there?)

Young Soldier

Far too early, too late, too soon
Is what is written on his tomb.
Too late the day
To turn away
Too early the death day dawn
Too soon for us to mourn.

Far too cruel, too naive, too misled
Shadows this wretched unknown head
Too naive to know
How the war would go
Too cruel the passage that gun him through
Too misled to know what’s true.

Far too eager, too frighted, too stunned
To be left behind rejected and shunned.
Too frighted by pleas
Too eager for fees
Too stunned in battle to turn and flee
To come home safe, my son, to me.

Far too angry, too bitter, too lost
To reclaim time and reckon the cost.
Too bitter the tears
That fill out my years,
Too angry to think of the waste –

Too lost, too lost the taste.

To feed pain is to rekindle it again and again and again. Better to let it go to rest so that those we lose CAN rest in peace, I reckon, but it's up to you. MOST people work through it without causing damage to others. Be among them please. Focus not on the loss but on the joy of them ever having been a part of our lives, be they men or women, girls or boys.
Thank you for reading.
